Robertson Dominates at Ace Speedway

Altamahaw, NC: Ryan Robertson and his #31 Sheetz Chevrolet dominated among some tough competition at Ace Speedway Friday night for his first win at the challenging short track.
After starting at the head of the pack of the night’s feature 75-lap late model race, Robertson stayed at the top of the field for every lap, despite nearly being turned sideways with 11 laps to go. The drama continued all the way to the end of the race when Robertson, with victory at his fingertips, spent the last lap protecting the low line along the bottom of the track with the #82 of Barry Beggarly making an attempt to come around the high outside groove in a last-gasp sprint that Robertson continued to hold off.
“Wow, I don’t even know what to say. It’s such a great feeling right now,” Robertson said. “I drove my heart out. I don’t think that I have ever driven that hard before.”
Robertson celebrated the win by spiking the steering wheel on the roof of his Sheetz Chevrolet prior to celebrating in victory lane. Robertson and the #31 Sheetz Chevrolet will follow-up this win by competing, at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina next Saturday night. Sheetz is also title sponsor for the race that evening, and will have special promotions at the track that night.
