Sportsman Competition Heats Up
Winston-Salem, NC: As the end of the season at Bowman Gray Stadium approaches, the competition always heats up in the Sportsman Division. Bryant Robertson, driver of the #72 Carolina Wood Floors/Winston-Salem State Motorsport Management Chevrolet, witnessed this first hand during what was supposed to be the division’s 40-lap race on Saturday night. Starting on the pole of a race that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Bryant Robertson led the first 30 laps.
When this race began to approach its 40-minute time limit, drivers were given a three lap race end warning resulting in a dash to the finish. As the green flag waved on the last restart, the #18 slipped past Robertson for the lead. Robertson then clipped the leader, sending both cars spinning into the infield on the final lap and resulting in a 13th place finish for the #72 Carolina Wood Floors/Winston-Salem State Motorsports Management Chevrolet.
Robertson said that he was disappointed with this finish, but thankful to his team and his sponsors for a great car. “The #72 Carolina Wood Floors/Winston-Salem State Motorsport Management Chevrolet was on fire tonight and couldn’t have been any better. Unfortunately, when the competition starts to heat up at this track you never know what can happen.”
Bryant Robertson will return to Bowman Gray Stadium in next Saturday night’s twin 20-lap Sportsman Division races.
